Your PAN or Permanent Account Number is issued to you by the Income Tax Department. This 10-digit alphanumeric unique identifier is, after all, one of the most important documents to hold as an Indian Citizen. However, the Income Tax Department also issues PAN to foreign nationals, provided they have a valid visa and intend to conduct business or high-value financial transactions in India.
Applying for a PAN is no longer a difficult task as this can be done offline and online through NSDL and UTI’s website. However, once you apply for your PAN, how will you track your PAN Card status? There are multiple ways to track income tax PAN status.

PAN card status check by Name & DOB

One of the easiest methods to do a PAN Card status check is by name and date of birth.

• Step 1: Visit https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pantan/StatusTrack.html_bkp24052013 to check the NSDL PAN status.
• Step 2: Select the application type as PAN (New / Change Request) from the drop-down menu. It should be exactly how you have mentioned it in your application.
• Step 3: If you are checking with your name and date of birth, you will need to click on the Name option.
• Step 4: Enter your surname or last name, first name, and middle name in their respective fields.
• Step 5: Enter your date of birth in DD/MM/YYYY format.

You will need to remember that you can only check your PAN Card status by name 24 hours after the application has been submitted.

PAN card status check by Aadhaar Number

A PAN Card status check with your Aadhar number is possible. To use your Aadhar Card, you need to follow these steps:

• The PAN status can be checked by visiting https://eportal.incometax.gov.in/iec/foservices/#/pre-login/instant-e-pan/checkStatusDownloadEpan
• Once you visit the page, you will see two options: Get New E-PAN and Check Status/Download PAN.
• Click on Continue, which is under the Check Status option.
• You will then be prompted to enter your Aadhar Number.
• Enter the OTP you receive on your Aadhar-linked mobile number.
• The final step lets you know the status of your PAN application.

PAN card status check using Mobile Number

Another way to get a quick update on your Income Tax PAN Card status is by using your mobile number. For this, you will need to dial 020-27218080 on your mobile phone. This is the call centre number for TIN. You will be asked to provide a 15-digit acknowledgement number. This number is generated when your PAN application has been submitted successfully.

PAN card status check by SMS

PAN Card status check by SMS is also another option you can opt for. All you will need to do is send a short message, which is NSDLPAN, followed by space and your 15-digit acknowledgement number.
This message has to be sent to 57575. After the successful transmission of the message, you will get an immediate status update. It is important to note that this method can be used only after three days of submission of your PAN application form.

UTI PAN card status

For applicants who have applied for a PAN through UTI, you will get a status update through UTI’s website.

• Step 1: Click on https://www.trackpan.utiitsl.com/PANONLINE/#forward
• Step 2: You will then need to input a coupon number which begins with the letter U. This number is the application coupon number mentioned on the application page.
• Step 3: Enter your Date of Birth.
• Step 4: Type the Captcha, which will be shown on the screen.
• Step 5: Click on Submit. You will know the status of the PAN within a few minutes.

Though the process is simple, you can always call on NSDL or UTIs helpline number if you face an error.
