As of FY25, SBI Life's workforce has grown to 26,355 employees (including Business Associates), reflecting a 10.3% increase over the previous year. With an average age of 36 years and 4 months and average tenure of 5 years, we nurture a dynamic blend of experience and fresh thinking that drives collaboration and innovation.
Diversity and inclusion remain key priorities. Women represent 22.54% of our workforce (5,940 employees), up from 15.93% in 2020, reflecting the impact of initiatives like Project Shakti, Graduate Sales Trainee Program and the Business Associate Model. Through inclusive policies and equal opportunities, we foster a workplace where all individuals are empowered to thrive.
This year, we rolled out HR One, a cloud-based HRMS platform that simplifies key functions like recruitment, onboarding, performance management and attendance. Accessible across devices, HR One empowers employees with intuitive self-service features that enhance transparency and efficiency.
Our performance philosophy is built on meritocracy, promoting a high-performance culture through fair and transparent practices. Our performance management system, LEAP (Leading through Excellence & Performance), adopts a Balanced Scorecard Approach, aligning individual contributions with strategic business goals.
Recognising that motivation goes beyond monetary rewards, our GEMs (Going Extra Miles) initiative honours employees who show exceptional commitment beyond their core responsibilities. These recognitions, led by senior leadership, foster a culture of appreciation and continuous improvement.
Aligned with our brand promise Apne liye, Apno ke liye, we continued to enhance our Group Mediclaim Policy with flexible options to cover dependents, including parents and in-laws. New features this year included preventive health check-ups tailored for women employees, reinforcing our commitment to holistic well-being for employees and their families.
What I value most about our Company is the trust it places in us to make decisions. When I handle claims, I know I'm supporting families during their most challenging times. At our Company, customer care isn't just a slogan - it's a way of life. My team leader's advice to 'think like a family member of the claimant' has profoundly influenced how I approach each case. Even after more than three years, I still feel excited to come to work every day.
I've managed teams before, but SBI Life taught me what true leadership means. They gave me the freedom to implement local strategies for Gujarat market. When I proposed vernacular training for our agents, not only did they approve it, but they made it a model for other regions. Seeing my team's confidence grow when they could explain policies in Gujarati - that's when I knew I was at the right company.
Every day is different here. One moment I'm helping a customer understand their policy, the next I'm coordinating with the claims team for quick settlements. SBI Life's systems are so user-friendly that I can resolve most queries in the first call itself. The satisfaction I get when a customer says 'thank you for making this so simple' - that's priceless. Plus, the festival celebrations here feel like home away from home.
The tech infrastructure here is impressive, but what makes SBI Life special is how they value innovation from everyone. I suggested automating our daily system monitoring and within two months, it was implemented across all centres. My manager said, 'Good ideas don't have designations.' The work-life balance is also genuine - I can actually pick up my daughter from school without feeling guilty.
Working at SBI Life has been a truly empowering journey. As a Regional Accountant, I’ve had the opportunity to take on meaningful responsibilities while being supported by a team that values precision and collaboration. The Company’s inclusive culture and focus on employee development have helped me grow both professionally and personally. I feel proud to be contributing to a trusted brand that makes a real difference in people’s lives.
Training in insurance can often be monotonous, but here, it feels engaging. I started using role-play scenarios and real customer stories in my sessions, which was a fresh and unique approach. The feedback has been amazing with new joiners expressing that they genuinely enjoy learning about products now. The best part is the Company’s significant investment in training – The Artificial Intelligence based solution is a recent addition and the results are outstanding! It makes my job so much easier. Really happy to be associated.
SBI Life gave me something I never had before - stability with growth. I've been in sales for more than 15 years, but here it's different. They don't just push for numbers; they want you to build genuine relationships with customers. The best part is the continuous learning programmes. Last month I attended a digital marketing workshop that completely changed how I connect with younger clients!
More than 14 years and still counting. My journey has been more than incredible; it feels truly gratifying. I have been leading the sales team, which is challenging, but SBI Life's support system makes everything possible. The monthly review meetings aren't just about targets - we discuss market challenges, customer feedback and team development. That's how you build trust with your team.

Looking ahead, our workforce strategy focuses on building a dynamic, agile and inclusive talent ecosystem that aligns closely with the Company’s growth plans for FY26 and beyond.
